Keys on the seat, door shut, engine sometimes still running — it happens to careful people every day. Our operators carry professional lockout kits and open most vehicles in a few minutes without damaging the door frame, weather seal, or glass. Typical arrival across Brooklyn is 15 to 25 minutes.
929-606-6310We wedge the top of the door frame just enough to slip a coated long-reach tool inside, then trip the lock or the interior handle. No slim-jims down the door cavity, where modern side-airbag wiring and window regulators live. On vehicles with frameless glass we work from the top corner with extra padding so the seal is not stretched.
Before we open anything, we confirm the vehicle is yours. A driver's license plus the registration, insurance card, or a photo of either on your phone works; so does a matching name on the plate lookup you can show us. If nobody on scene can establish ownership we cannot open the car, and no reputable operator will. This protects you as much as it protects us.
Some lockouts move to the front of the queue:
If the fob battery died, the doors may still open with the hidden mechanical key inside the fob and the keyhole under the driver's-door handle cap — worth trying before you call. If the fob is locked inside, we open the door normally; the car will then start because the fob is in range. What we do not do is cut or program new keys — that is a locksmith or dealer job, and we will tell you straight away if that is what you actually need.
Keys locked in the trunk with no interior release, a key snapped off in the lock, or an ignition that will not turn are locksmith work rather than lockout work. In those cases the practical fix is often a tow to your dealer or an auto locksmith, and we can do that on the same visit instead of leaving you to arrange a second truck.
Locked out and the battery is dead too? See jump start service. If you got in and the car still will not move, our roadside assistance and emergency towing pages cover the next step.
Our tools are coated and used at the door frame rather than inside the door cavity, so paint, seals, glass, and airbag wiring stay intact. On the rare vehicle we judge too risky to open, we say so and recommend an auto locksmith instead.
Photo ID plus registration, an insurance card, or a photo of either on your phone. The name has to connect you to the vehicle. Without that, we cannot open the car.
Usually 15 to 25 minutes in Brooklyn, faster near Park Slope, Gowanus, Carroll Gardens, and Downtown Brooklyn. Emergencies involving a child or pet inside go to the front of the queue — call 911 at the same time.
Yes. Once the door is open the fob inside is back in range and the car starts normally. If the fob battery is dead, the mechanical key hidden in the fob often works on the driver's door — try that first.
No. Key cutting and transponder programming is locksmith or dealer work. If your key is lost or broken rather than locked inside, we can tow you to whichever shop you choose.
Many towing-and-labor or roadside riders do reimburse lockout calls. We provide an itemized paid receipt for Allstate, GEICO, Travelers, Progressive, or any other carrier; check your own policy limit before submitting.
